Independent Guided Study and research provides an opportunity for students to work with a faculty member doing directed reading or supervised research on a topic or course of study that is of particular interest. Students wishing to register for IGS must first secure a faculty member who will mentor the student's IGS.
Students are advised to approach faculty members early about IGS, since many instructors limit the number of students they will supervise at a given time.
To begin the process for approval for a IGS course, students are required to submit their Course of Study Proposal to a faculty member for their approval.
